09/22/2017 When I weighed myself five days ago, it showed that I was down 28 pounds, from 402 to 374. I was really happy with that and was looking forward to dropping the next five pounds to get down to the next digit, the "Sixes". I had two scales at home, and right after that neither of them would give a consistent reading so I ordered a new scale and weighed myself this morning. The scale showed 380 (among other numbers - couldn't get a consistent reading). It's amazing how fast the head talk starts totally based on a number on a machine. Until I stepped on the scale I was feeling great. Afterward I immediately started in with "just give up" "this is never going to change" "you might as well have a big pizza for supper", etc. Then as I was driving to work I started thinking "You haven't gone off your eating plan even once in the past month. Monday,October 9, 2017 My weight loss has been hovering steady around 30 pounds. I can't seem to get past it. My exercise has been pretty much nothing since I tore a hip flexor two months ago. Other than doing physical therapy in the pool once a week, I haven't been able to go for a walk for months. I plan to go for at least a short walk after work today to see how it goes. This past weekend we went to Chicago to see Steve Martin and Martin Short at the Chicago Theater. I looked up online beforehand how wide the seats were so I knew I wouldn't fit in the seat, but fortunately we had one seat on the aisle and we were in the first row of the balcony. I was able to sit on the front half of the seat but couldn't sit all the way back. It was OK - certainly not comfortable but it could have been much worse. At least there weren't people on all sides of me. I noticed a few other people who couldn't sit back in their seats either. ...

Thursday, September 14, 2017 It has been one month today since I started. I weighed last week and the scale showed I was down 20 pounds, but I don't have faith in that scale! I put new batteries in it last week, but weighing on that one and then immediately after on another one shows a 10 pound difference. So whatever. What I do know is that I feel better, and I look better. My face no longer looks like a watermelon every morning. My clothes are just starting to fit better (like they should have all along instead of being so stretched out). Every single day I start with a protein shake. Without fail. Every single day. I also add in one container of 80 calorie greek yogurt to really amp up the protein. That generally keeps me full until lunch time. Lunch during the week at work is always two Asian veggie burgers topped with Sweet Thai Asian sauce from Trader Joe's. Sometimes I get hungry mid afternoon, sometimes...

Monday, August 28, 2017 I injured my back 8 days ago, went to Urgent Care last Thursday and after x-rays, etc., they couldn't determine what the problem was and prescribed a muscle relaxant and pain medication. It is now four days later and I have maybe a 10% improvement. The pain is terrible. The only good thing to come out of it is that I have completely lost my appetite! I forced myself to make a smoothie this afternoon and that is probably all I will have today. Just getting dressed and going to work this morning was so painful.

Monday, August 21, 2017 Starting week two! No problem over the weekend. I had my protein smoothie for breakfast both days, and veggie burgers for lunch. For dinner I had two eggs over two slices of 40 calorie bread for a 240 calorie meal, just slightly more than the smoothie. This week at work will be challenging with a meeting every day that involves either a breakfast or lunch, or both. I will need to think ahead so I can stick with my plan with as little modification as possible.

Friday, 08/18/2017 Day 5 and no problems all week. I did walk after work yesterday, 1.3 miles in 25 minutes. I am planning to walk after work again today. I am a little nervous about the weekend; being around the house and therefore around food all weekend, but hoping that I will be able to continue as I have been and start my second week strong on Monday!

Thursday, 08/17/2017 Today is my fourth day, and everything is going well. I have eaten the same thing each day: Protein smoothie for breakfast, 2 veggie patties for lunch, protein smoothie in the afternoon, and one bag of riced cauliflower for dinner. So around 800 calories per day. I am trying to stay under 1000 calories per day, so doing well there and definitely getting plenty of protein. Today I feel like I have more energy and may go for a walk after work!
