My weight loss has been hovering steady around 30 pounds.  I can't seem to get past it.  My exercise has been pretty much nothing since I tore a hip flexor two months ago.  Other than doing physical therapy in the pool once a week, I haven't been able to go for a walk for months.  I plan to go for at least a short walk after work today to see how it goes.

This past weekend we went to Chicago to see Steve Martin and Martin Short at the Chicago Theater.  I looked up online beforehand how wide the seats were so I knew I wouldn't fit in the seat, but fortunately we had one seat on the aisle and we were in the first row of the balcony.  I was able to sit on the front half of the seat but couldn't sit all the way back.  It was OK - certainly not comfortable but it could have been much worse.  At least there weren't people on all sides of me.  I noticed a few other people who couldn't sit back in their seats either.  I think I read that the seats are 20" across.  They are separated by wood, and the arm rest is wood, unfortunately with a slight lip that overlaps the seat area, so there is no "give" to the seat.  You either fit or you don't.  I didn't.  I told my son that I was glad I had lost that 30 lbs but not being able to fit into a seat makes you feel like giving up, not continuing on.

Anyway, we left home on Saturday.  We stopped for lunch at McDonalds and I got a salad.  Unfortunately I forgot my fat free Italian dressing at home, so I had one pouch of their Southwest salad dressing that is around 150 calories, so the salad was under 200 calories.  I had a container of greek yogurt for breakfast, so I was doing well.  For dinner we ate at House of Blues and I had decided before we left home that I was going to have the meatloaf dinner.  I rarely eat meat, maybe a few times a year.  We ordered cornbread for an appetizer, and that was just OK - not worth the calories.  I ate half the meatloaf and mashed potatoes.  So I felt OK about dinner as well.  Plus we did quite a bit of walking downtown.

Sunday we had coupons for a free breakfast at the hotel.  I had a couple pieces of bacon, some scrambled eggs, half a piece of French toast and some cubed potato pieces.  I took a bagel to eat on the way home because I had been craving a bagel for weeks.  On the way home we stopped at a Trader Joe's.  I have no idea why, but I bought a container of milk chocolate covered toffee pieces.  It was a stupid thing to do since I can't taste anyway.  I finished the container that same day, so that's history.  When we got home I had two tacos from Taco John's and some potato ole's.

Today I am back on my normal plan.  I had a slimfast shake w/greek yogurt for breakfast and another one for lunch.  I plan to have another for supper.  That will be 600 calories for the day.  And if I can walk after work that will be a huge win for me.  I plan to continue with 3-4 slimfast shakes per day for at least the next month.  I didn't weight myself this morning, and I plan to wait a couple weeks before I weight again.  Maybe I can bust through this 30 pound plateau if I can start walking again.

So all in all, instead of beating myself up for not fitting in the seat, I decided to keep on.  I did notice in the pictures we took over the weekend that my face does look thinner.  So maybe the next 30 pound loss can be done before Thanksgiving!

We are planning a trip to New York next April and I know the seats on Broadway are tiny, so if we plan to see any shows and I'm sure we will, I have got to lose about 90 pounds before then.  That's about 6 months away.  We'll see how it goes.
